Chamber Director

The Grant County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, results oriented Director to enhance and grow a unified member-based organization. The Director is responsible for all business operations of the Chamber. The Director is the spokesperson of the Chamber and effectively and efficiently manages resources that promote the Chamber and Tourism to area businesses, local government agencies, residents and guests of Ulysses and Grant County. The Director must demonstrate self-initiative in directing the activities that obtain and retain business members, plan and execute fundraising and civic events, and develop strong relationships with Ulysses and Granty County government agencies and the business community at large to provide value to the membership and to the Chamber.

Performance Objectives and Specific Duties

 ● Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with Chamber membership, the community and to obtain new members.

● Responsible for ensuring Chamber promotional assets, including the website and social media are up-to-date and relevant in support of membership and Chamber activities.

● Visits with business members on a regular basis to maintain a relationship with business owners, and to encourage use of Chamber resources to support their business activities.

● Helps develop annual budget for Board approval and adheres to the approved budget.

● Effectively delegates responsibility to committee chairs or members of the Chamber staff to ensure planned activities are accomplished in accordance with the established directives.

● Plan and budget events that support Chamber fundraising activities or social events that bring business leaders together with members of local and state government.

● Accepts responsibility for achieving team goals and completing team tasks.

● Maintains On-Line QuickBooks with check writing, billing, deposits, financials, etc. with help from a CPA if needed.

● Is accountable to the Board for the performance of the duties and seeks guidance from the Board as needed.

● Identify critical issues that may impact the Chamber and its members.

● Manage staff and volunteers

● Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications Education: B.A. or B.S. degree in Business or Service Industry or minimum 5 years experience of Service Industry

Experience: Five years of business experience with previous Chamber experience a plus.

Skills: Ability to work effectively with Board, Membership and visitors; ability to plan, monitor and evaluate budgets; ability to organize, plan and implement activities appropriate to further organizational goals, strong sales ability and able to develop and execute fundraising activities.

Computer Qualifications: Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media management, design software. Familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus.

Due to the nature of the business, the Director position at the Grant County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism requires flexibility and, at times, duties that require hours outside normal business hours and some weekends.
